Not long ago, I was placed within beautifully serene, lush mountaintops on a mission to learn about life outside the one i currently live in. Beneath the tall shroud of the pines and evergreens; their refreshing aroma; peacefully listening to the sound the flowing river makes as it forges a path amongst and through the rocks, I beheld the same sights, sounds and smells as those who preoccupy this rich and beautiful land.

“Those”, who are themselves preoccupied with the lack of opportunities, find solace in (the quiet, often inaudible to us) “nature” of their poverty. At that moment, I was one of them and now, I stand before the world's rich to testify of the harrowing burden people in poverty deal with: being poor without adequate opportunities in a land of plenty…
 
The fact I am Angry that their struggles are never acknowledged, their voices never heard - if only by a few - and because their knees bleed from all the begging for help, forces me to focus on making sure the worlds poor have a voice and that they endure to witness the changes we all talk about but rarely directly bestow onto them!

I am Miguel Juanez, and I work with the poor to help them have a Future Without Poverty! I belong to a non profit, a university collective of student chapters, and am friends with others who developed a focus on working together to help people have the opportunities we as humans are entitled to all over the world!  

“It is not a crime to be poor, but what we do economically to the poor is criminal” Nuff said!
